Painting, Sanding, Painting, Sanding repeat ad-nauseum

Time for some more painting to get the ball rolling, the lid has fixed really nice and the perspex seems to fit well, so more coats of primer and sanding, rinse and repeat..

The ledge could do with a bit more wood filler to build it up to the same layer as the very bottom of the box, as you can see when painting there are still some uneven parts that arent flush..

Holes are drilled to fit the joystick and then countersunk for the screws to go flush under the graphics and perspex without raising it.. As you can see the screw goes down nice into the wood..

More wood filler and another paint and this time its much more on par with the existing wood, and doesnt show as a seperate part anymore, just an extension of the wood..

Bit of tidying up of the drill holes to get them nice and neat, i'm shocked at how close the bottom right bolt is to the A button, talk about cutting it close, next time i'll move the stick another cm to the left and not follow the arcade guide to the mm... Jeez...

Another coat and perspex lid fitted to check for fit, bit tight on the left hand side so i'll sand down the lid a bit more underneith the graphics, it wont show and the lid should dip in by another mm or so and be all right..

Time to make a start on the bottom of the box, need to sand and prime that and get it ready for an all over painting..
Bit of extra wood filler added to the corners to bulk them up a bit and get them nice and level..

Finally a prime of both the box and the removable bottom panel, and now I can leave it overnight to dry, i'll give it another sand tomorrow and see if its ready for the proper acrylic shiny paint... yipee..

Back soon....
